Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

Watercolor Study in F Minor No. 5 translates a piano étude into visual form. Arnaud Quercy maps the F minor triad — F0, F2, C4, A4, A5 — onto a color system, converting harmonic relationships into painted equivalents. The work belongs to the F minor series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which applies this chromatic translation method across multiple keys and registers.

Visually, the painting organizes around a vertical composition on white paper. Looking at the image directly: a large blue-grey semicircle occupies the upper-center area, its flat edge running vertically and defined by a firm black outline. To its right, a deep purple rectangle fills the lower-right quadrant. The background washes are lavender and soft violet throughout. Thin black lines rise from the lower portion of the composition, each ending in a small rectangular or circular mark — one black, one grey — suggesting notation or antenna-like forms. A smaller grey-violet oval sits within the purple rectangle near the bottom. The color data confirms this reading: warm grey and muted mauve tones fill the ground, with deep red-violet and blue-violet providing the concentrated color areas. A dark teal-blue serves as the accent, appearing in the semicircle's cooler passages. Black ink lines are sparse but structurally present throughout. The technique is watercolor on paper, with areas of flat wash and visible layering.

The work measures 30 × 21 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is the fifth work in the F minor series. Certificate number 20261002-0187 accompanies the piece. Quercy created it on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon — the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running from October 2 to October 4, 2026. The work is currently available.
