Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the F minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition transforms the chord's fundamental tones — F, Ab, and C — into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a harmonic structure that operates through visual rather than auditory perception. The piece functions as both a study in synesthetic translation and an investigation into how musical relationships can be expressed through color interaction.

Crimson forms dominate the composition, occupying the central areas with bold geometric shapes that establish the work's primary visual weight. Warm orange tones appear throughout substantial portions of the surface, creating luminous transitions between the deeper red-orange passages. Dark gray and charcoal areas provide structural foundation in the lower registers, while accent notes of blue-gray, dusty rose, and wheat create subtle harmonic punctuation. The acrylic medium on linen canvas allows for clean color separation and precise geometric definition.

The work measures 60 × 60 cm and weighs approximately 0.8 kg, executed in acrylic on linen canvas during 2024. This piece represents Variation 8 within the Synesthetic Explorations series, which systematically investigates the visual properties of musical structures. Certificate of authenticity number 20240718-0199 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right. The painting was acquired by a private collector in Le Havre, France in January 2026.
