Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
Watercolor Study in F minor — No. 1 translates a piano étude into color. The work maps a specific chord triad — F0, F1, F2, D3, Ab3, Gb4 — onto a visual field, where each pitch corresponds to a color range. This is the opening work of the F minor series, part of the Harmonic Crossing collection, which explores the relationship between musical harmony and color.
Blue-violet tones cover the largest area of the composition, with cool grays spreading across much of the surface alongside them. The paper shows through in lighter passages, adding a pale, neutral presence throughout. Dark brown and near-black tones appear in substantial areas, grounding the lower register of the composition. A concentrated red-violet passage, moving toward deep maroon and black, occupies a vertical form on the right side. Warm brown tones fill a rectangular block in the lower left. The overall structure is geometric: flat, outlined rectangles arranged in a vertical format. Black outlines define each form clearly. The watercolor technique keeps the surface matte and slightly textured, with visible paper grain throughout.
The work measures 18 × 13 cm on paper and weighs 0.1 kg. It is the first work in the F minor series within the Harmonic Crossing collection. The certificate number is 20260713-0107. The work was created on July 13, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was exhibited at the Solabi Vare exhibition at Art Quam Anima, Paris, opening May 30, 2026. The work was acquired on August 29, 2026, by a collector in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and is now sold.
