Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the Ab minor chord through chromesthetic mapping within the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece functions as a small piano étude translated into color, where the Ab minor triad appears as blue, yellow-green, and blue-violet tones. The study translates spread voicing into spatial distribution across the canvas, drawing from piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping.

Violet tones dominate the composition, appearing in very dark purple and black areas that anchor the lower registers. Steelblue and grayish purple create substantial presence through the middle range, while light steelblue provides brighter accents in the upper areas. Wheat-colored passages offer warm contrast against the cooler dominant palette. The acrylic medium on paper creates smooth color transitions with moderate texture consistency, allowing the chromesthetic relationships to read clearly across the surface.

The work measures twelve by eighteen centimeters and weighs approximately one-tenth of a kilogram. This piece represents Variation 15 within the broader harmonic research series, bearing certificate of authenticity number 20251231-0132 with the artist's signature positioned at the bottom right. The painting was completed on December thirty-first, 2025, and has been acquired by a collector in Germany.
