Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a B Major chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece transforms piano harmonies into color relationships, investigating how musical intervals can be expressed through visual composition. The study focuses on spread voicing techniques, where chord tones appear across multiple octaves.

Red-violet tones dominate the composition, with blue-violet and yellow-orange creating substantial presence throughout the surface. The geometric forms organize into distinct rectangular sections, each containing specific color relationships that correspond to individual pitches. Dark brown and olive accents provide structural definition between the color fields, while a pale red-orange accent appears as a small highlight.

The work measures 10.5 × 15.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, executed in acrylic on paper. This piece represents the eighth variation in the Research on Harmony series, exploring the relationship between C5, Eb5, F5, Eb6, and Eb7 pitches through their chromesthetic color equivalents. The artist's signature appears bottom right, with certificate of authenticity number 20251123-0072 documenting the work's provenance.
