Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the D Major9 chord through chromesthetic mapping, translating specific musical tones into their corresponding colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece demonstrates how harmonic structures can become visible through systematic color relationships based on the circle of fifths.

White tones dominate the composition, with warm orange and tan areas creating substantial presence throughout the surface. Gray sections provide structural contrast, while a small blue-green accent appears as a single note within the harmonic arrangement. The geometric forms organize these colors into distinct zones, with vertical and horizontal divisions creating clear boundaries between tonal areas.

The work measures 10 × 15 cm and weighs minimal as acrylic on paper. Certificate of authenticity number 20240220-0026 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The compact format allows the four-note voicing to remain clearly visible while maintaining the harmonic relationships essential to the D Major9 structure.
