Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the Eb Major triad through harmonic-chromatic translation, where musical harmony becomes visible color. Part of the Harmonic Crossing collection, the piece translates the fundamental chord tones Eb, G, and Bb into their corresponding visual equivalents, creating a small-scale study in harmonic color relationships.
Red-violet tones dominate the upper portion, appearing as thistle and dusty mauve that occupy substantial areas of the composition. Blue-violet appears throughout in cornflowerblue and royalblue, while very dark gray provides the foundational base. Orange and yellow-orange tones create warm accents in chocolate, darkgoldenrod, and sandybrown, with cream-colored antiquewhite adding brightness. The geometric forms arrange these colors in overlapping planes and curved sections that suggest the layered voicing of the original chord.
The work measures 12.0 × 18.0 cm on paper using acrylic technique, making it a compact study suitable for close examination. Certificate of authenticity number 20251231-0137 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located bottom right. This variation represents the seventh exploration in the Research on Harmony series, continuing Quercy's investigation into the visual representation of musical structures through his personal harmonic-chromatic system.
