About This Artwork

This work explores the F minor triad through chromesthetic translation, where musical harmony becomes visible color. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece translates the chord tones F, Ab, and C into their corresponding visual equivalents. The composition demonstrates how musical intervals can be experienced through color relationships rather than sound.

Pale grays dominate the composition, establishing a neutral foundation that spans nearly one-third of the surface. Violet tones appear throughout multiple areas, creating substantial presence through various intensities from light steel blue to deeper purple hues. Orange and warm brown tones occupy significant portions, providing earthen contrast to the cooler palette. Dark accents punctuate the arrangement, with deep blue-violet and red-violet areas creating focal points. Small orange squares and geometric forms organize the color relationships into distinct zones.

The watercolor measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper, executed in 2025 as part of the artist's systematic investigation of musical harmony through visual means. Certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0026 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The piece represents variation 16 within the broader harmonic research series, demonstrating how minor chord qualities translate into specific color temperature relationships.
