Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the F# Major triad through chromesthetic translation, where musical harmony becomes visible color. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece translates the chord's fundamental tones into their corresponding visual equivalents, creating a direct bridge between auditory and visual perception.

Yellow-green tones dominate the composition, appearing in geometric forms that correspond to the chord's B natural. Red-orange areas provide harmonic contrast through the G natural, while green sections represent the F# root. The colors organize into distinct geometric zones - a large circular form in aquamarine green, angular sections in darker yellow-green, and contrasting areas in muted red-orange. Black linear elements create structural divisions across the surface, while a small white accent appears as the visual equivalent of a high Bb.

The work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm and weighs minimal amounts on paper support, executed in acrylic. Certificate number 20240615-0133 documents its authenticity, with the artist's signature located bottom right. The piece represents Variation 1 within the Research on Harmony series, demonstrating how specific chord structures translate into organized color relationships through the artist's chromesthetic system.
