Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of musical harmony through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The Ab Minor triad — A, B, and D — appears as yellow-orange, green, and orange tones, creating a direct correspondence between musical pitch and color perception. The composition investigates how harmonic relationships can be made visible through systematic color translation.
Light gray tones dominate the composition, providing a neutral ground for the chromesthetic elements to emerge. Yellow-green forms appear in substantial areas, while yellow and red-violet accents create rhythmic punctuation throughout the surface. The watercolor medium allows colors to blend and layer naturally, with darker gray lines providing structural definition. Three small accent colors — orange, yellow-orange, and green — appear as precise color notes corresponding to specific pitches in the harmonic structure.
The work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm on paper, fitting within the compact format typical of musical studies. Certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0043 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The painting belongs to the Synesthetic Explorations collection, which systematically examines the visual representation of musical structures through color relationships.
