Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the visual translation of the C+ augmented triad through chromesthetic mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the work investigates how musical harmony can manifest as color relationships on paper. The painting demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to converting specific chord structures into visual compositions.

Silver and pale gray tones dominate the composition, creating a luminous foundation across the surface. Yellow-orange areas appear in substantial sections, ranging from warm tan to deeper peru tones. Yellow-green passages provide structural elements throughout the work, while accent colors include ochre yellow, blue-gray tones, and a deep orange-brown that anchors the lower register. The watercolor technique allows these colors to interact through transparent layering and controlled bleeding.

The work measures 12.0 × 16.0 cm on paper, creating an intimate scale for detailed color study. Certificate of authenticity number 20240718-0164 documents the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The painting translates the C+ chord's root (C), major third (E), and augmented fifth (Ab) into corresponding color families, creating a visual representation of musical intervals through the artist's personal chromesthetic system.
