Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the B Major triad through chromesthetic translation, converting the chord's fundamental tones into their corresponding color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, it investigates how musical harmony can be made visible through systematic color mapping. The piece translates the B Major chord — B, D#, F# — into yellow-green, orange, and red-orange hues.
Yellow-green tones dominate the composition, appearing in silver, palegoldenrod, and steel gray variations that occupy the upper and central areas. A violet accent creates contrast in the lower portion, while orange and red-orange notes provide bright punctuation. The watercolor technique allows these colors to flow and blend naturally, creating soft transitions between the harmonic elements. Black linear elements define geometric shapes that organize the color relationships across the paper surface.
The work measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper, making it part of the small-format series within the collection. Certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0008 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The compact dimensions focus attention on the precise color relationships that translate the musical chord into visual form.
