Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the visual translation of a B Major chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The work converts the harmonic structure of B Major into its corresponding color relationships, creating a visual étude that makes musical harmony tangible through pigment on paper.

Yellow-green tones dominate the composition, appearing throughout the surface in varying intensities from light sage to deeper forest hues. These greens correspond to the B notes that anchor the chord structure. Warm yellow-orange areas occupy substantial portions of the upper regions, while silver-white passages provide neutral ground between the more saturated color zones. Small but significant accent colors punctuate the composition: dusty violet appears as a concentrated square, with orange and red-orange touches adding harmonic complexity.

The watercolor measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper, creating an intimate format that invites close examination of the color relationships. This is Variation 7 within the broader research series examining harmonic structures through visual means. The work bears certificate number 20250125-0007 and is signed at the bottom right corner.
