Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the F# octave through chromesthetic translation, converting musical pitches into visual color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece bridges auditory and visual perception by mapping specific notes to their corresponding colors according to the artist's synesthetic experience.

Light yellow-orange tones dominate the composition, occupying nearly one-third of the surface. Blue-green hues appear throughout substantial areas, creating the primary harmonic foundation alongside green tones that provide structural support. The colors organize into geometric forms outlined in dark lines, with circular and rectangular shapes creating a balanced arrangement across the vertical format.

The watercolor measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm on paper, signed at bottom right. Certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0056 documents the work's provenance. The piece translates eight specific pitches spanning from Eb3 to A6, with the root note F# appearing as green tones that anchor the composition. Small accent notes in orange and red-orange provide subtle color variations that complete the octave's visual representation.
