Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores harmonic relationships through chromesthetic translation, converting the Ab Major 9 chord into its visual equivalent. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece demonstrates how complex musical harmonies can be expressed through color relationships and spatial organization.
Red-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing in warm coral and deeper burnt sienna variations that create the primary visual mass. Deep violet and indigo blues occupy substantial areas, providing harmonic contrast through their cooler temperature. Dark red-violet passages appear in the lower register, while small accent notes of russet orange and steel gray blue-violet complete the chromesthetic voicing.
The work measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm and uses acrylic on paper to achieve precise color relationships. Each color corresponds to a specific pitch in the resolved chord voicing: Ab1, Ab2, Bb2, G4, Eb5, G5. Certificate of authenticity number 20240228-0029 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right. The compact format allows the harmonic relationships to read clearly while maintaining the intensity of the chromesthetic translation.
