Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of musical harmony through chromesthetic mapping, translating the F Major triad into color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece demonstrates how musical intervals can manifest as visual harmonies, with each note of the chord appearing as its corresponding color equivalent.
Golden orange dominates the composition, creating the primary visual foundation while red-orange tones occupy substantial areas throughout the surface. Dark red-violet and muted red sections provide deeper harmonic support, balanced by black areas that ground the overall structure. Gray tones appear in measured amounts, creating neutral spaces that allow the warmer colors to resonate. Small accent notes of yellow-orange, pale green-white, and silver provide subtle color variations that complete the chromesthetic translation.
The acrylic on paper measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm, executed in 2024 as part of Quercy's systematic investigation into color-sound relationships. Certificate of authenticity number 20240615-0131 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The compact format allows for focused examination of the harmonic color relationships, where the F Major triad manifests through carefully calibrated color proportions that mirror the acoustic properties of the original chord.
