Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work translates the C Major9 chord into visual form through Quercy's synesthetic approach, where each musical tone corresponds to a specific color family. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece explores how harmonic relationships in music can be expressed through geometric color arrangements. The composition investigates the tension between musical structure and visual abstraction.
Yellow-orange tones dominate the composition, with tan colors filling the upper portions and darker golden areas creating substantial presence throughout the middle sections. Very dark green appears in broad vertical bands, while red-orange forms create geometric transitions between the warmer zones. Violet tones provide contrast in darker areas, and subtle red-violet and red accents appear as small geometric details. The acrylic technique allows for clean color boundaries while maintaining smooth transitions between adjacent forms.
The work measures 14.8 × 21.0 cm on paper, making it part of the collection's compact format series. Certificate of authenticity number 20240306-0050 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located on the back. The painting represents the sixth variation in this harmonic research series, demonstrating Quercy's systematic approach to color-sound correspondence within the broader Synesthetic Explorations framework.
