Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This painting maps a specific musical chord onto geometric color fields. Arnaud Quercy takes the Ab7#11 dominant seventh sharp eleven chord — with notes Ab1, Ab2, D3, C4, D5, and C6 — and assigns each note a color zone on the surface. The work belongs to the Ab7#11 series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which uses piano studies and cycle of fifths mapping as its structural foundation.
Warm yellow-cream tones fill the largest area of the composition, anchored by a rounded form on the left side that reads as a partial arc against an orange field. A broad coral-red rectangle occupies the right half of the surface, sitting beside a dark blue-gray vertical band at the far right edge. A blue-violet zone appears in the lower center, connecting the warm and cool areas. Burnt sienna and russet tones add weight in the lower left, alongside a small deep red accent. Near-black lines define the boundaries between color zones, giving the geometric structure its precision. The overall palette runs warm — cream and tan tones cover the largest areas — with cooler grays and blue-violets providing contrast. Red-orange and deep orange tones appear as secondary notes across the surface. The acrylic technique on paper produces flat, even color fields with visible brushwork texture throughout.
The painting measures 30 × 21 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, painted in acrylic on paper. It was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris and shown the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through 4 October 2026. The work carries certificate number 20261002-0189 and is currently available. It is catalogued as AQC1138 in Arnaud Quercy's catalogue raisonné.
