Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the F Minor triad — spanning registers F1, F2, C3, F4, A4, A5, and Ab6 — onto a visual field using harmonic-chromatic correspondence. The work belongs to the F minor series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which applies cycle of fifth mapping to acrylic painting on paper. Each variation tests how musical harmony can be read as color relationship.

Warm grey and muted yellow-orange tones fill most of the surface, building the tonal ground from which other colors emerge. Violet and dusty mauve occupy substantial areas, concentrated in the circular form that anchors the composition. A large geometric shape — part circle, part rectangular block — sits left of center, painted in deep red-orange and dark red, with a brighter red-pink rectangle overlapping its upper section. Black appears at the left edge as a vertical band, and along thin drawn lines that cross the right half of the composition. Deep navy sits at the lower right. The accent color, a dark red with low saturation, marks the boundary between the red-orange mass and the surrounding violet ground. The technique is acrylic on paper, applied with visible texture across the painted surface.

The work measures 21 × 30 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It carries certificate number 20261002-0193. Created on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris, it was exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon — Portes ouvertes de la galerie-atelier Art Quam Anima, at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through October 4, 2026. The work is currently available.
