Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This painting translates a piano chord into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the Db Major 7 chord — spanning notes Db0, Db1, Db3, F4, A5, F6, and F7 — onto a set of geometric color fields. The work belongs to the Db Major 7 series and sits within the broader Harmonic Crossing collection, which explores how harmonic structures from piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping can be expressed through color relationships.
Warm neutral tones from the paper ground fill substantial areas of the composition, visible at the edges and between the main color blocks. A teal blue-green occupies the upper left quadrant, meeting a large deep navy form that curves across the center-left — its arc suggesting the sweep of a chord across registers. A dusty mauve-violet fills the upper right, grounded by a vertical dark teal-grey bar running from top to center. Below that, red-orange and deep maroon tones fill the lower right, with a lighter salmon-pink circle emerging from within the navy arc. Thin near-black outlines define the boundaries between zones. The composition is vertical, with hard geometric edges on the right side and a curved organic form on the left. Acrylic on paper gives the surfaces a flat, matte quality with visible brushwork across the color fields.
The work measures 21 × 30 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris and first exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through 4 October 2026. The certificate number is 20261002-0196. The work is currently available.
