Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the F Minor triad — F1, F2, Ab3, A4, A5, Ab6 — onto a visual field, converting harmonic relationships into color relationships. The work belongs to the F Minor series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which uses cycle of fifth mapping and piano studies as its structural foundation. Each variation in the series tests a different chromatic rendering of the same harmonic source.

The composition organizes large rectangular fields across a vertical format. A warm silver-gray zone fills the upper left, shaped by a rounded arch at its inner edge. Deep blue occupies the lower left, shifting toward blue-violet. A dense black field anchors the upper right. A concentrated red-orange block sits at the center-right, where the four zones meet — the most chromatically active point in the painting. Below the black, a cooler blue-violet area completes the lower right. Thin black lines mark the boundaries between zones. The paper ground shows through at the edges and within the mat area, contributing a warm neutral tone that reads throughout. Accent colors — deep red-violet and muted grayish blue — appear at the junctions, adding low-chroma transitions between the primary fields. The acrylic is applied with visible directionality, particularly in the black zone where vertical strokes remain distinct.

The work measures 30 × 21 cm on paper, weighing 0.1 kg. It carries certificate number 20261002-0192. The painting was created on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon — Portes ouvertes de la galerie-atelier Art Quam Anima, running October 2–4, 2026, at Art Quam Anima, Paris. The work is currently available.
