Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of F minor's harmonic structure through chromesthetic mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece converts a piano étude into color relationships that mirror the chord's musical tensions and resolutions.

The composition divides into distinct color zones that reflect the F minor triad's voicing. Red-violet tones dominate the left portion, representing the root note F in its lower register. Red-orange hues occupy substantial areas throughout the middle and right sections, translating the fifth C and its octave doubling. A steel gray accent provides the crucial third Ab, appearing as a precise geometric element that completes the harmonic structure. The background shifts from warm coral tones in the upper region to deep purple-red in the lower section, creating spatial depth that mirrors the chord's registral spread.

The acrylic on canvas measures 60.0 × 73.0 cm and weighs within the large format classification. Created in 2024, the work carries certificate of authenticity number 20240602-0095 and bears the artist's signature on the front right. The piece translates the F minor triad F-Ab-C into its chromesthetic equivalents, with the resolved voicing spanning from F2 through Ab6, creating a visual representation of the chord's harmonic content across multiple octaves.
