Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the D Major triad — notes D0, D2, D3, A4, and A5 — onto a visual field using a harmonic-chromatic system drawn from piano studies and cycle of fifths mapping. The work belongs to the D Major series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which explores the relationship between musical harmony and color.
Warm gray and sandy tones fill most of the surface, building a neutral ground across the upper and central areas of the vertical composition. Cooler mid-gray zones hold the center, while greens — ranging from yellow-green to deep forest — occupy the right-center and lower sections. A band of strong orange runs across the lower portion of the painting, providing the most saturated contrast in the work. Near-black areas anchor the upper right and lower edges. A pale, almost white zone sits at the upper center, with small russet and burnt sienna passages adding warmth at the margins. A very dark red accent, barely visible, marks a precise point within the composition. The forms are geometric and hard-edged, organized into a grid of interlocking rectangular and curved shapes painted in acrylic on paper.
The work measures 21 × 15 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris and exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through 4 October 2026. The certificate number is 20261002-0168. The work is currently available.
