Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of D Major harmony through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The D Major triad appears as a spread voicing across seven octaves, with each note finding its corresponding color through the artist's systematic approach to sound-color relationships. The composition investigates how harmonic relationships translate into visual space.

Yellow-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing as tan, peru, and sandybrown that occupy substantial areas across the surface. These warm colors correspond to the A notes that anchor the harmonic structure. Yellow-green appears in smaller sections as gray, representing the resolved F# harmony. Black provides the bass foundation, while accent colors of russet orange and dusty mauve violet create precise punctuation points. The colors organize into overlapping geometric forms that suggest both architectural structure and musical voicing.

The work measures 21.0 × 30.0 cm on paper, executed in acrylic with certificate number 20240615-0148. The signature appears bottom right. This piece represents the first variation in the artist's systematic investigation of D Major harmony, demonstrating how a simple triad can generate complex visual relationships when distributed across multiple octaves. The work was completed in France in 2024 and has been acquired by a collector in Istanbul, Turkey.
