Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of musical harmony through chromesthetic mapping, where the C Major triad becomes a study in color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece investigates how fundamental chord structures can manifest as visual compositions, translating the harmonic clarity of C-E-G into corresponding color families.

Red-orange tones dominate the composition, appearing throughout substantial areas of the surface and creating the primary visual structure. Very dark gray anchors the lower portion, while silver tones occupy significant space in the upper regions. Orange and burnt sienna provide substantial presence in the middle areas, with pink elements creating softer transitions. Two accent colors punctuate the composition: a very dark red that corresponds to the fundamental C, and a light golden yellow representing the bright E in the upper register.

The work measures 21.0 × 30.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal amounts on wood panel support, executed in acrylic. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0242 documents the piece's provenance. The composition demonstrates the artist's systematic approach to translating musical structures into visual form, where each color family corresponds to specific pitches within the C Major chord across multiple octaves.
