Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the D Major triad into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The piece explores how musical harmony appears as color relationships, converting the chord tones D, F#, and A into their corresponding visual equivalents. The composition demonstrates the systematic approach of translating musical structure into geometric color arrangements.

Orange tones dominate the composition, appearing throughout the surface alongside substantial areas of yellow-orange and warm tan. Very dark gray provides contrast in the lower portion, while green accents create focal points within the geometric forms. The colors organize into distinct rectangular and curved shapes, with sharp edges defining the boundaries between different harmonic elements. Three small accent colors—red-orange, yellow, and yellow-green—appear as precise details, representing the resolved chromesthetic translation of the chord's extended voicing.

The work measures 21.0 × 30.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal on wood panel support, executed in acrylic. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0250 accompanies the piece. The composition forms part of the broader Synesthetic Explorations series, which systematically investigates the visual translation of musical structures. The artist's signature appears on the reverse, with the work completed in France during 2024.
