Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This acrylic painting translates the D Minor 7 chord into color. Arnaud Quercy maps four notes — D0, D4, A4, A5 — onto four distinct color zones: orange toward black, red-violet, yellow-orange, and red. The work belongs to the Harmonic Crossing collection and draws its structure from piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping.

Warm yellow-orange tones fill most of the surface, spreading across the background and several of the larger geometric blocks. The composition organizes these blocks with firm black outlines, creating a grid-like structure that breaks into a curved form on the left side. A vertical red-orange band runs through the center, anchoring the arrangement. Orange and burnt sienna tones occupy substantial areas within the blocked zones. Dark red provides a concentrated accent, and a deep black field appears at the lower right, grounding the color sequence. A pale warm gray at the top edge separates the active color zones from a quieter upper register. The acrylic medium is applied with consistent opacity across all areas, keeping each color flat and distinct.

The work measures 21 × 15 cm on paper and weighs 0.1 kg. It is the seventh variation in the D minor 7 series within the Harmonic Crossing collection. The certificate number is 20261002-0173. The painting was created at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris on 2 October 2026. It was first exhibited at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima gallery in Paris, from 2 to 4 October 2026. The work is currently available.
