Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the Bb Major triad — the notes Bb0, Bb2, D3, D4, and D5 — onto a visual field using a harmonic-chromatic system drawn from piano studies and cycle of fifths mapping. The result is a color score: each zone corresponds to a specific pitch relationship within the chord. The work belongs to the Bb Major series and sits within the broader Harmonic Crossing collection, which applies this chromatic-harmonic method across multiple keys and variations.
Violet moves toward black at the left edge, anchored by a deep magenta-purple vertical band that runs the full height of the composition. A dense black rectangle fills the lower-left area, grounding the lower register. Lavender and soft violet occupy the central and right-center zones, covering most of the picture surface. A warm orange rectangle rises through the middle, and a larger orange form with a rounded top appears in the upper right, providing strong contrast against the cooler violet fields. A pale off-white rectangle sits in the upper-left quadrant, adding a lighter accent. Gray fills the right edge. The color data confirms this warm-cool tension: orange tones appear throughout the surface, violet and gray occupy substantial areas, black anchors the lower zone, and a deep red-violet provides a secondary accent. The painting is acrylic on paper, applied in flat, clearly bounded geometric fields separated by thin black outlines.
The work measures 21 × 15 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris and shown the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open-studio exhibition at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through 4 October 2026. The work is identified by certificate number 20261002-0177 and carries the asset code AQC1126. It is currently available.
