Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates the Bb Major triad into visual form through chromesthetic mapping, where musical tones appear as specific colors. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece converts the harmonic relationships of Bb, D, and F into their corresponding visual equivalents, creating a direct bridge between auditory and visual perception.

Red tones dominate the composition, appearing in dusty mauve and dimgray forms that occupy substantial areas of the surface. Violet hues provide strong contrast through slateblue and darker dusty mauve sections, while yellow-orange elements create warmth in darkgoldenrod and peru tones. Black anchors the lower register, with gray providing transitional areas between the primary color families. Small accent notes of bright orange, yellow, and pale blue-green appear throughout, adding harmonic complexity to the basic triad structure.

The acrylic on paper work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm, creating an intimate scale that focuses attention on the color relationships. Certificate of authenticity number 20240615-0145 accompanies the piece, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The compact format concentrates the harmonic translation into a concentrated visual experience, where each color zone corresponds to specific pitches in the resolved voicing that spans from Bb1 to D6.
