Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work translates a small piano étude into visual form through harmonic-chromatic mapping. Part of the Harmonic Crossing collection, it transforms the Bb Major triad into color relationships where each note becomes a specific hue. The piece explores how musical harmony can exist as visual harmony through systematic color translation.
Warm yellow-orange tones fill the upper areas while violet and orange create the central structure. The composition organizes colors into geometric forms that echo the chord's voicing, with red-violet areas providing harmonic support. Black lines define the boundaries between color zones, creating a visual staff system. Light purple and white areas add breathing space to the dense harmonic structure.
The work measures 12.0 × 18.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, created with acrylic on paper. It carries certificate of authenticity number 20251231-0141 with the artist's signature located at bottom right. This piece represents the ninth variation in the Research on Harmony series, demonstrating how the Bb Major chord's notes D4, Bb4, and F5 translate into orange, violet, and red-violet respectively.
