Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the Bb Major triad — the notes Bb1, F3, Bb3, F4, and D5 — onto a visual field using a harmonic-chromatic system drawn from piano studies and cycle of fifths mapping. Each note corresponds to a color range: violet moving toward black, orange, and red-violet moving toward red. The work belongs to the Harmonic Crossing collection and to the Bb Major series within it.
Warm neutral tones fill most of the surface — a range of muted beige and gray-beige that reads as the painting's ground. Against this, red-violet and dusty mauve occupy substantial areas, carrying the violet-toward-black register of the lower Bb notes. Orange appears as a clear vertical form on the left side of the composition, sharp against the surrounding violet and mauve fields. Deep red and very dark red hold smaller areas, reinforcing the lower end of the harmonic range. A near-black zone anchors the bottom left. Gray tones appear in the upper left, and a thin linear element — a stem with a small circular head — rises in the upper right against the lighter field. Black outlines define the edges between color zones throughout. The painting is acrylic on paper.
The work measures 18 × 13 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through 4 October 2026. The certificate number is 20261002-0164. The work is currently available.
