Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This small piano étude explores the C minor triad through chromesthetic translation, converting musical harmony into visual color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the work demonstrates how specific chord tones can be rendered as corresponding color families, creating a direct bridge between auditory and visual perception.

Red-orange tones dominate the composition, occupying most of the painted surface and representing the fundamental harmonic structure. Deep red-violet areas provide substantial contrast, appearing as darker geometric forms that anchor the composition. A bright orange accent emerges as a small but vital element, adding harmonic complexity to the overall color structure. The acrylic paint creates clean, defined edges between color areas while allowing subtle variations within each tone family.

The painting measures 16.0 × 21.0 cm on paper, making it an intimate study suitable for close examination. Created in 2024, the work carries certificate of authenticity number 20240602-0081 and bears the artist's signature on the front right. The geometric arrangement of color blocks reflects the structured nature of harmonic relationships, translating the mathematical precision of musical intervals into spatial color organization.
