Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This work explores the visual translation of the B minor triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The composition transforms the chord tones B, D, and F# into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a visual representation of harmonic relationships. The spread voicing opens across multiple octaves, allowing each tone to occupy distinct spatial and chromatic territories.
Orange tones dominate the composition, occupying nearly half the surface through warm chocolate and bisque areas that represent the D note across different octaves. Yellow-green regions appear throughout, manifesting the B root note in various intensities from dimgray to lighter gray tones. Dark brown and silver areas provide the harmonic foundation, while bright yellow-green accents create rhythmic punctuation points that correspond to the chord's upper extensions.
The acrylic on paper measures 10.5 × 15.0 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, making it a compact study format. This is Variation 6 within the Synesthetic Explorations series, which investigates the systematic translation of musical structures into visual form. The work bears certificate number 20251123-0075 and is signed at the bottom right. The piece demonstrates how chromesthetic perception can render abstract harmonic relationships as concrete visual experiences.
