Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the Mixolydian mode through geometric abstraction. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the composition investigates how musical modes can be expressed through color relationships and spatial arrangements. The piece captures the distinctive character of the Mixolydian scale with its major tonality and flattened seventh degree.

The composition centers on warm orange and yellow-orange tones that dominate the surface. Deep orange forms create substantial presence alongside lighter tan and burlywood areas. Geometric shapes overlap and intersect in dynamic arrangements, with a dark charcoal rectangle providing structural contrast. Small accents of blue-green and bright white punctuate the warmer palette, creating visual tension that mirrors the modal characteristics of the musical source.

The work measures 21.0 × 29.5 cm and weighs minimal as an acrylic on paper piece. Created in 2024, it carries certificate of authenticity number 20240110-0001 with the artist's signature located at bottom right. The compact format allows the geometric elements to maintain clear definition while supporting the color relationships that define the modal exploration.
