Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the visual translation of a C minor chord through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The work translates the fundamental triad of C, E-flat, and G into their corresponding color equivalents, creating a direct bridge between musical harmony and visual perception.

Orange tones dominate the composition, appearing in multiple variations from burnt sienna through tan. Light gray provides substantial presence in the upper areas, while violet tones create secondary harmonies throughout the surface. Thin black lines intersect the color fields, creating geometric divisions that echo musical staff notation. The watercolor technique allows colors to blend at their boundaries while maintaining distinct tonal areas.

The piece measures 16.0 × 24.0 cm on paper, signed bottom right with certificate of authenticity number 20240718-0166. This variation represents one exploration within the broader research into harmonic color relationships, demonstrating how musical intervals translate into visual color intervals through the artist's chromesthetic system.
