Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the Bb Major triad — Bb1, Bb2, F3, Bb3, D4, D5, D7 — onto a visual field using a harmonic-chromatic system drawn from piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping. The work belongs to the Bb Major series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, where musical structure drives color selection and spatial organization.

Warm tones fill the largest areas of the composition. Yellow-orange and orange hues spread across much of the surface, shifting from pale warm neutrals through deeper rosy browns. Red tones occupy substantial areas alongside, moving from a mid-range crimson toward deep, near-black violet. Black grounds the lower portion and edges, providing a firm base. Dusty mauve and gray appear in smaller zones, offering cooler contrast to the warm mass. A concentrated maroon accent — highly saturated, dark, and chromatic — punctuates the composition as its sharpest color note. The palette as a whole runs from light warm beige through orange to deep violet-red and black, tracing the tonal descent of the Bb Major chord across the color spectrum. The painting is executed in acrylic on paper, with visible surface texture throughout.

The work measures 21 × 15 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is the fifteenth variation in the Bb Major series, part of the Harmonic Crossing collection. The painting was created on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first exhibited that same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through October 4, 2026. The certificate number is 20261002-0174. The work is currently available.
