Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the Bb Major triad — Bb1, F3, F4, Bb4, D5, D6 — onto the canvas using a harmonic-chromatic system drawn from piano studies and cycle of fifths mapping. The work belongs to the Bb Major series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, where each piece tests a different variation of the same tonal structure through color relationships.

Warm gray and silver tones cover most of the surface, forming the ground against which the other colors read. A deep, dusty mauve occupies substantial areas, shifting between red and violet depending on the surrounding colors. A cooler grayish purple appears alongside it, pulling the reds toward blue-violet. These three color groups — the warm neutrals, the mauves, and the grayish purples — account for the majority of the composition. Near-black areas anchor the lower right zone, grounding the warmer tones above. Orange and russet appear as accents, concentrated in the central-left section of the composition. A small pale zone near the top of the orange block provides a lighter break in the warm cluster. The painting uses acrylic on paper, with flat, clean edges between color zones and thin black lines defining the geometric structure.

The work measures 18 × 13 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, painted on paper with acrylic. It is the twenty-first variation in the Bb Major series. The certificate number is 20261002-0197. The work was created on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris, and exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through October 4, 2026. The work is currently available.
