Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting maps the D7 dominant seventh chord — D1, D2, D3, D4, A4, A5 — directly onto color. Each note in the chord corresponds to a specific hue, following a harmonic-chroma system drawn from piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping. The work belongs to the D7 series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which explores how musical harmony can be expressed through color relationships.

Warm orange and yellow-orange tones fill most of the surface, shifting across the composition from bright, saturated areas toward deeper burnt sienna and russet zones. Near-black passages anchor the upper left, providing the darkest contrast. A vertical dark brown-green bar divides the upper half, separating the orange field from two stacked rectangles — a pale mint above a deep teal — that occupy the central column. The right side holds a large, flat salmon-pink field. Below a horizontal boundary, a broad yellow-orange band runs across the lower portion, with a partial dark terracotta arc appearing at the lower right. Black outlines define each color zone clearly. A small red-orange russet accent appears within the composition, adding a point of chromatic tension against the warmer surrounding tones. The acrylic paint is applied on paper with flat, even coverage throughout.

The work measures 18 × 13 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is painted in acrylic on paper. Quercy created it on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. The painting was first exhibited at Les Portes du Dragon — Portes ouvertes de la galerie-atelier Art Quam Anima, held at Art Quam Anima, Paris, from 2 to 4 October 2026. It carries certificate number 20261002-0163 and is currently available.
