Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the Bb Major triad — the notes Bb2, F3, F4, Bb4, and D5 — onto a chromatic range that runs from violet toward gray, orange toward yellow-orange, and red-violet toward red. The work belongs to the Bb Major series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which uses the cycle of fifths as a structural framework for color research.

Warm neutral tones — silvers and steel grays with yellow-orange undertones — fill most of the surface. Gray areas, ranging from cool purple-gray to near-black, occupy substantial sections of the composition. Dusty mauve and red-violet tones appear across a significant portion of the painting, while deeper red zones provide further presence. Orange and burnt sienna accents concentrate in a vertical rectangular form near the center-right of the composition. A very dark red-orange, the most saturated color in the work, appears as a precise accent point. Black outlines define the geometric zones — a large rectangle, a half-circle, and several vertical bands — organizing the color fields into a clear, grid-like structure. The painting is executed in acrylic on paper, with visible texture from the paper surface throughout.

The work measures 18 × 13 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is the tenth variation in the Bb Major series. The certificate number is 20261002-0158. The painting was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first exhibited at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, from 2 to 4 October 2026. The work is currently available.
