Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the Bb Major triad — Bb0, Bb2, F3, F4, D5 — onto a visual field, converting harmonic relationships into chromatic ones. The work belongs to the Bb Major series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which draws on piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping as its structural foundation.

Warm violet and mauve tones dominate the surface, ranging from mid-violet through deep red-violet toward near-black at the darkest edges. Orange occupies substantial areas, concentrated in two geometric zones — a triangular wedge near the upper center and a vertical rectangle at the upper right. A cooler gray-blue rectangle anchors the top right corner, providing contrast against the warmer field. Thin black lines divide the composition into flat, hard-edged sections. A pale peach accent appears at the junction of the orange zones, small but precise. The overall palette moves from violet toward black on one axis and from orange toward red-violet on the other, following the harmonic-chromatic logic stated in the artist's description. The paint is acrylic on paper, applied with clean edges and flat color fields.

The work measures 21 × 15 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is a small-format painting on paper. It is the thirteenth variation in the Bb Major series. The certificate number is 20261002-0170. The work was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first exhibited at Les Portes du Dragon — Portes ouvertes de la galerie-atelier Art Quam Anima, held at Art Quam Anima, Paris, from 2 to 4 October 2026. The work is currently available.
