Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the visual translation of a Bb major chord through chromesthetic mapping. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the work converts musical harmony into color relationships, with each note of the chord assigned its corresponding visual hue based on the artist's synesthetic perception.

Orange dominates the upper left quadrant, representing the D4 note that anchors this particular voicing. Violet tones occupy substantial areas in the lower portion, translating the Bb4 root of the chord. Light red and red-violet sections appear throughout the right side, visualizing the higher register D6 octave. The composition organizes these harmonic colors into geometric sections divided by dark linear boundaries, creating a structured arrangement that mirrors the chord's musical architecture.

The watercolor measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm and weighs minimal amounts on paper support. Certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0045 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located at bottom right. This piece represents Variation 6 within the broader harmonic research series, demonstrating how major triad structures translate into visual form through the artist's chromesthetic methodology.
