Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the C Octaves chord — C0, A4, A5 — into a visual equivalent, moving from red toward black as the harmonic-chromatic expression of that specific interval. The piece belongs to the Octaves series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which draws on piano studies and cycle of fifth mapping as its structural foundation.

Warm sandy and rosy tones cover most of the surface, built from layered yellow-orange values that shift gradually from lighter to darker. Visible in the image, the composition organizes into distinct rectangular blocks: a pale sage-green field at the top, a dusty pink vertical panel on the left, a deep red-orange central column, and a dark brown-black form at the lower right. A thin black vertical line runs from the top edge down through the composition, crossing the boundary between the upper field and the colored blocks below. A second short line marks the base of the pink panel. The red-orange column carries the primary harmonic statement of the chord. Black appears as an accent at the lower right, grounding the sequence. The painting uses acrylic on paper, with visible canvas-like texture across the surface.

Measuring 21 × 15 cm and weighing 0.1 kg, this is a small work on paper. It was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris and exhibited the same day at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, running through 4 October 2026. The work carries certificate number 20261002-0176 and is currently available.
