Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This watercolor explores the B-flat octave through chromesthetic translation, where musical intervals become visible color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the work transforms the harmonic structure of Bb octaves spanning from Bb4 to C7 into a geometric composition dominated by violet tones. The painting demonstrates how sound frequencies can find expression through visual harmony.
Violet tones fill most of the composition, with mediumpurple appearing throughout the surface and plum creating substantial presence alongside slateblue forms. The geometric shapes include circles, rectangles, and angular elements arranged vertically on the paper. Subtle tan and white accents provide contrast points, corresponding to the G5 and C7 notes that complete the harmonic structure. The watercolor technique allows colors to blend naturally while maintaining distinct geometric boundaries.
The work measures 10.0 × 15.0 cm on paper and weighs minimal amounts suitable for intimate viewing. Created in France during January 2025, it carries certificate of authenticity number 20250125-0044 with the artist's signature positioned at bottom right. The piece represents the 34th work in the Reflexions series, exploring systematic approaches to musical visualization through watercolor's fluid properties.
