Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

Reflections 44 maps a piano chord into color. The work belongs to the Octaves series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, where Arnaud Quercy applies cycle of fifth mapping to translate piano études into painted form. Here, the C octave — built from C0, D3, A4, and A5 — becomes a color sequence moving from red toward black.

Warm neutrals fill most of the surface. Muted sandy tones — ranging from pale stone to deeper taupe — cover the largest areas, establishing a ground that reads as quiet and even. Against this, a large terracotta field occupies the left and central zones, its surface flat and opaque. A curved black line cuts across the lower portion, separating the terracotta from a vivid red-orange that pushes into the lower section. In the upper right, a solid black rectangle anchors the composition. Below it, a pale blush-pink square provides contrast. The forms are geometric and hard-edged, painted in acrylic on paper. The color data confirms the warm-neutral ground, with russet, dark red, burnt sienna, and black appearing as distinct, bounded zones across the surface.

The work measures 18 × 13 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It is painted in acrylic on paper. Reflections 44 is part of the Octaves series within the Harmonic Crossing collection. It carries certificate number 20261002-0157. The work was created on October 2, 2026, at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first shown publicly at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, from October 2 to 4, 2026. The work is currently available.
