Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.
He creates and exhibits at Art Quam Anima, his gallery-atelier at 28 rue du Dragon, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris.
About This Artwork
This painting translates a piano étude into color. Arnaud Quercy maps the D Minor 7 chord — built from the notes D0, D2, C3, D3, A4, and A5 — onto a visual field using the cycle of fifths as a structural guide. The work belongs to the D minor 7 series within the Harmonic Crossing collection, which explores how harmonic relationships from piano studies can be expressed through color organization rather than sound.
Warm yellow-orange tones fill most of the composition, building a ground that shifts between sandy neutrals and deeper rosy browns. Against this field, red-orange and russet areas appear with clear presence, concentrated in vertical and horizontal blocks that divide the surface into distinct zones. Orange and burnt sienna tones provide additional weight in the lower and central areas. A near-black ground anchors the bottom right, while a pale cream-white section occupies the upper right, crossed by two thin diagonal lines that rise toward a small dark mark at the top edge. The left side carries a large curved form in muted violet-gray, its arc pushing into the warm center. The composition uses flat, bounded shapes separated by dark outlines, organizing the chord's notes as color fields across the paper surface. Acrylic on paper, the work shows visible texture from the support.
The painting measures 21 × 15 cm and weighs 0.1 kg. It was created on 2 October 2026 at the Rue du Dragon studio in Paris. It was first shown publicly at Les Portes du Dragon, the open studio event at Art Quam Anima, Paris, from 2 to 4 October 2026. The work is certified under number 20261002-0175 and is currently available.
