Arnaud Quercy

Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This watercolor explores the C+ augmented triad through chromesthetic translation, converting musical harmony into visual color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the work investigates how the unstable intervals of the augmented chord create tension and resolution through color interaction.

Orange tones dominate the composition, appearing throughout nearly forty percent of the surface, while red families occupy substantial areas with equal presence. The central geometric intersection features concentrated color blocks where yellow-orange accents provide sharp contrast against the muted background. Black linear elements create a grid structure that organizes the color relationships into distinct zones.

The watercolor measures 16.0 × 24.0 cm on paper and weighs minimal for transport. Certificate number 20240718-0167 accompanies the work, with the artist's signature located bottom right. The piece represents Variation 3 within the broader harmonic research series, translating the E4, C5, D5 chord voicing into corresponding visual elements.
