Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This painting explores the note B-flat in octaves through harmonic-chromatic translation, converting musical pitches into their corresponding visual colors. Part of the Harmonic Crossing collection, the work transforms the harmonic structure of Bb octaves into a geometric composition where violet tones dominate the visual field. The piece bridges auditory and visual perception through systematic color mapping.

Very dark grays and purples anchor the lower register, occupying substantial areas of the composition through angular forms and curved elements. Lighter violet tones appear in geometric shapes, creating visual harmonies that correspond to the octave relationships in the musical source. Warm gray and silver tones provide contrast in select areas, while a small yellow accent creates visual tension. The acrylic paint on wood panel allows for clean edges and precise color relationships.

The work measures 15.0 × 21.0 × 0.3 cm and weighs minimal amounts suitable for intimate viewing. Certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0288 accompanies the piece. The compact vertical format concentrates the harmonic-chromatic translation into a focused study of how octave relationships appear when translated through harmonic-chromatic perception.
