Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

D Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of D Major harmony through chromesthetic mapping, where musical intervals become color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece transforms the D Major triad into its corresponding visual elements, creating a direct bridge between auditory and visual perception.

Orange tones dominate the composition, appearing across multiple octaves as the root note D manifests in various registers. A yellow-green accent provides contrast in the upper portion, while dark brown grounds the lower areas. The geometric forms organize these colors into distinct zones, with curved and angular elements creating visual rhythm. Two small accent colors appear as punctuation marks - a deep red-orange and a pale yellow-orange that complete the harmonic spectrum.

The work measures 21 × 21 cm and weighs 0.1 kg, executed in acrylic on paper. Created on November 23, 2025, it carries certificate number 20251123-0096 with the artist's signature positioned bottom right. As Variation 15 in the Research on Harmony series, it demonstrates the systematic approach to translating musical structures into visual form through consistent chromesthetic principles.
