G Major

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of a G Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, where musical pitches become color relationships. Part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection, the piece transforms the fundamental chord tones G, B, and D into their corresponding visual equivalents, creating a small piano étude rendered in acrylic paint.

Very dark gray dominates the composition, anchoring the lower register G2, while chocolate orange appears throughout substantial areas representing D4. Red-orange firebrick provides accent notes for G4, with rosybrown orange marking the higher D5. The spread voicing opens across multiple octaves, from the bass G2 through the upper register B6, translated as a silver accent. The geometric forms divide and overlap, creating visual intervals that mirror the harmonic relationships between chord tones.

The work measures 15.0 × 21.0 × 0.3 cm on wood panel, with certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0284. The artist's signature appears on the reverse. This compact format allows the chromesthetic relationships to read clearly while maintaining the intimate scale appropriate to a piano étude study. The piece demonstrates the systematic approach to translating musical harmony into visual color relationships that defines the broader Synesthetic Explorations series.
