Arnaud Quercy is a Parisian artist working across painting, music, and sculpture. His practice is grounded in Ideamorphism — the principle that a work of art does not carry meaning, but triggers it. Each piece is engineered to diffract differently through each person who encounters it.

About This Artwork

This work explores the visual translation of the C Major triad through chromesthetic mapping, part of the Synesthetic Explorations collection. The fundamental chord — C, E, G — emerges as a spread voicing that transforms harmonic relationships into spatial color arrangements. The piece investigates how musical intervals can be perceived through color relationships rather than auditory experience.

Dark gray anchors the composition's foundation, while red-orange forms appear throughout the central areas. Pink tones occupy substantial portions of the upper regions, with pale gray creating broad transitional zones. Orange accents provide warmth in select areas, while small touches of yellow-orange and cream create bright focal points. The colors organize into distinct geometric sections that suggest the layered structure of a piano chord.

The acrylic painting measures 30.0 × 42.0 cm on wood panel, weighing approximately 0.4 kg. Created in France during 2024, the work carries certificate of authenticity number 20241201-0214. The piece translates the specific voicing C2, E3, G4, G5, E6, E7 into its chromesthetic equivalents, with each note corresponding to particular color families based on the artist's synesthetic perception system.
